6th ASEAN summit - Hanoi_98 Code: 793 The 6th ASEAN Summit will be held in Hanoi on 15.12.1998. The aim of the summit this time is "To further strengthen solidarity _ cooperation in ASEAN for a peace, stability and even development" expressing its optimism towards the 21st century. This is the first ASEAN summit to be held in Vietnam. |

In order to mark this great event, Department General of Posts _ Telecommunications (DGPT) issues the stampset "6th ASEAN Summit - Hanoi_98" with one value of 1,000d. On the stamp is the image of a ten-petal lotus - the logo of the 6th ASEAN Summit - Hanoi_98 and its pistil - the ASEAN _s logo. The number VI is stylised as a vase. The ASEAN flower is surrounded by ten pigeons representing 10 ASEAN member countries. All is presented against the back-ground of "Temple of Literature" - the symbol of Hanoi 1000th Anniversary.
