Bonsai (ornamental plant) is a product created by a very skilful combination of the art _ the gardening. In various aspects, the bonsai symbolizes an art abstract style. Bonsai orginated from China and Japan. Since the 8th century, Japanese people have considered bonsai as an art, that means they already accepted its existence in their culture _ gardening traditons.
In Vietnam, the art of planting bonsai appeared a long time ago, but it has been well developed in recent years only. Planting bonsai is a hobby by which you can both enjoy the beauty of nature and take a great pleasure in family life as well as public places.
In order to introduce some species of ornamental plants in Vietnam, General Department of Posts _ Telecommunications (DGPT) issues the stampset "Vietnamese Bonsai" consisting of 6 values and one block:
- The 1st: Limonia acidissimal- face value: 400 d
- The 2nd: Deeringia polys perma (Roxb) Amasathaceac - face value: 400 d
- The 3rd: Pinus merkusii Jungbrulsn et deviriese - face value: 400 d
- The 4th: Barring tonia acutangula gaertn - face value: 400 d
- The 5th: Ficus elastica Roxb - face value: 6,000 d
- The 6th: Wrightia Religiosa Hook - face value: 10,000 d
- And block: Adencum Obesum (Forsk) Roem etschult - face value: 14,000 d
