Vietnam, a S - shaped land, has its coastline over 3,200 kilometres of sea and millions of square kilometres in special economic zone along the Pacific Ocean with a lot of precious sea product. Many islands and archipelagoes along the continental shelf have given birth to diversified natural coral-population and sea creature as well, including one species of extraordinary shapes and beautiful colours, i.e coral-sea fish.

     In Hoang Sa & Truong Sa territorial waters, there are a great deal of coral-sea fish species. The beautiful & precious ones are raised for ornament and for economic value. The others are considered high protein foodstuff.

     On 07.8.2000, Department General of Posts & Telecommunications (DGPT) issues the stampset "Coral-sea fish in Vietnam" consisting of 6 values and one block featuring several coral-sea fish species of good shapes & beautiful colours that are fond of and raised for ornament in the house.
