On October 16, 2000, the Department General of Posts and Telecommunications (DGPT) issues a special stamp set entitled "Bats", introducing a number of extremely rare bat species that are existing in Vietnam, showing their daily life in the natural habitat. The set consists of five models:
*Model 1:
Scotomanes ornatus, which is a rare species discovered in Cuc Phuong and Huong Son, having a face value of VND400
*Model 2:
Pteropus lylei, which is a very rare species found in Southern Vietnam, having a face value of VND400
*Model 3:
Rhinolophus paradoxolophus, which has very big nostrils, first ever described in Vietnam, found only in Vietnam and Thailand, included in the fauna and flora red book of Vietnam, having a face value of VND2,000
*Model 4:
Eonycteris spelaea, found across Vietnam, mainly in forests, having a face value of VND6,000
*Model 5:
Cynopterus sphinx, found across Vietnam, having a face value of VND11,000
