50th Death Anniversary of Nam Cao (November 30, 1951- November 30, 2001)

     Writer Nam Cao (his birth name of Tran Huu Tri) was born in Nhan Hau commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province on October 29, 1917 and passed away on November 30, 1951.

     He was the writer of critical realistic literature with a range of works such as Doi lua xung doi (Chi Pheo) - A well-matched couple, Nua dem - Midnight, Song mon - Being stuck in a rut... With characters such as Thay giao Thu, Lao Hac, Chi Pheo, Thi No, he deeply depicted not only the labour’s bitterness in reduced circumstances but also the petty bourgeoisie who were in an ideological impasse living under the high pressure of feudal society with brightless future.

     Being a talented writer, member of the Vietnam Communist Party and symbolized revolutionary in the cultural front, he was highly successful in depicting the characters with the view from a revolutionist.

     The Department General of Posts and Telecommunications issues the stamp set "50th Death Anniversary of Nam Cao (November 30, 1951- November 30, 2001)" with one denomination of 800VND. The stamp set presents the portrait of Nam Cao with some of his typical works which are edited and reprinted getting great love from readers.
