King Le Thanh Tong - Code: 789 Le Thanh Tong (1442 -1497) is the pseudonym of Le Tu Thanh (Le Hao). He was born in Nhu An village, Luong Giang district (the former name of Thieu Hoa), Thanh Hoa province. |
He ascended the throne at the age of 18 and was the 4th king of Post-Le Dynasty. He assumed himself the Lord of southern country and was among kings whose ruling time is the longest in Vietnamese history (38 years). Under his reign, the outstanding achievement is to complete cultural, political _ economic reform in Dai Viet country (former name of Vietnam). Particularly, his work of Hong Duc is one of progressive Codes in Vietnamese history. He was an erudite person having good knowledge in the domain of learning. He was also a great poet, a great writer and a great artist who has left many valuable works for Vietnamese cultural treasure.
In order to remember King Le Thanh Tong_s merits, Department General of Posts _ Telecommunications (DGPT) issues the stampset "King Le Thanh Tong" (1442 -1497) with one value of 400d.
The stampset shows Le Thanh Tong Statue. On the right is the famous sentence from a poem in Chinese (i.e: Long lasting river _ mountain in southern country forever) by Le Thanh Tong that was carved on Poem Mountain. The sunk design on the stamp is the image of dragon on the stele in Le Thanh Tong Temple.
