The Department General of Posts and Telecommunications issues the stampset "Diesel Locomotives" introducing some locomotives which have been used for railway traffic in Vietnam. These locomotives were designed by Mr. Rudolf Diesel (a German inventor 1858-1913) in 1892 using inside-fired petrol-engine. They were made and used in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Russia, the United States and Rumania in the 20th century. Small sized, they are the suitable for narrow railway lines and the complicated terrain in Vietnam that the Vietnam Railway Union has exploited and operated effectively in order to develop the economy and to serve people's livelihood.

The stampset consists of 6 values and 1 block depicting the locomotives in operation in Vietnam.
